Who I Am

a little bit about me…

I am a lifelong learner, anatomy nerd, outdoor lover, passionate and vulnerable healthcare provider. I am doing this work of embodiment, healing, and living a full active life alongside with you. I love a good podcast, walks in the woods ground me, photography brings me deep joy, learning about fascia and anatomy light me up, gardening and tending to our land fulfills me, following the lunar cycle has changed my life since 2018, and being a parent has been the most fun and challenging role of my life. I am the happiest when I can ride my e-bike on a summer evening with music blasting in my air pods. I am a recovering perfectionist and worrier.

I live in Canaan with my husband, son, and 2 dogs.

How did I get here?…

I am a certified Professional Yoga Therapist (PYT) and a certified and NH licensed athletic trainer (AT) with an ever growing toolbox practicing since 2008. Originally from Connecticut, I have been an active lover of the outdoors since childhood. Sports and anatomy were two of my first loves, and this combination introduced me to athletic training.  I graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University in 2008 with a BS in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and then went on to get my MS in Athletic Training from the University of Kentucky graduating cum laude in 2010.

My yoga practice started in 2007 when I took a class in college and loved the mental and physical release felt from the slower pace and inward focus of the practice. I practiced at home with online classes and also attended in person classes on and off for the next five years from a variety of yoga lineages. Then after my own knee injury in 2012, I discovered Ginger Garner and the PYT Institute. This is when I started my PYT certification and left the traditional collegiate setting of athletic training. This injury had a big physical impact AND there was a psychological and emotional component that I was not ready for. The practice of yoga and the learnings of the PYT method were pivotal in my healing journey. I moved from working with teams and athletes in the collegiate setting to working with a broad array of young and old, current and ex-athletes, and those who just wanted to feel and move better in the fitness setting. I began teaching yoga at this time and since then I have been incorporating yoga and a more holistic approach, utilizing the pentagon of wellness and biopsychosocial model with all those I work with.

After working in the fitness setting for five years teaching yoga and working with clients individually, I shifted to start my own business and gained experience in the medical cannabis setting as I made the transition to being my own boss. The world of medical cannabis got me interested in research again and allowed me to work in a different model and with a whole new set of patients. If you are curious about learning more about cannabis, especially CBD and CBG, let me know!

I now work for myself full-time in a private studio in Lebanon, NH or virtually on Zoom. I work with individuals in private and group settings focusing on each person as a whole being with many layers and their own unique story. Breathing is the foundation of life and all of the work I do. I love working with all bodies, but especially enjoy working with women and those who are perinatal or are primary caregivers of children. Pregnancy, birth and parenting are the hardest athletic endeavors any of us will undergo and I am passionate about serving this population.

What I

Believe In

My two cents…

I can stand on a lot of soap boxes. A few of them are: we need to seriously improve perinatal support, every single human body is absolutely amazing, and knowledge is key for empowerment.

I believe that health and wellness is an active endeavor for everyone that takes consistency, intention, and curiosity with each individual’s journey to connection to Self being paramount. I also believe “what” you do on this endeavor is far less important  than the “when” “how” or “why.” In other words, you can run or walk or hike or bike for cardio, but your mindset, awareness, intention, and drive is what makes the impact. Moreover, physical wellness is only one piece of the pie, and while it can be a great place to start your wellness journey it often isn’t the end of the path.

We are multilayered beings that each need a slightly different recipe for wellness or embodied wholeness. Finding practices that resonate, feel safe, and encourage connection to the Self increases embodiment. Embodiment can lead to empowerment and increased self-awareness, which then increases agency and understanding of our individual and collective needs. You then become an active participant in your healthcare and wellness journey with the most important information for YOU. The more you connect to yourself and your humanity, the more you may connect to all beings and your environment.

Wellness is something that is inherently human regardless of your skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial standing, or mental and physical capabilities. I welcome the opportunity to work with all bodies of all abilities; and if I don’t think I am the best equipped to work with you, I will help to refer you to someone else. What I Do

what does working with me look like?…

Each 1:1 session, class, or workshop is different, but the foundation of my work involves assessments, a focus on breathing, core, and alignment to connect inward, collaboration between the person or people in the room, explanation about the area we are working on or the reason for what we’re doing, and reassessments with a focus on the process not the exact final outcome. Progress matters more than perfection or achievement.

My mission as a healthcare and service professional is to share the power and benefits of self-care healthcare through embodiment practices (breathing, rolling/self myofascial release, yoga therapy, yoga nidra/non-sleep deep rest, Ayurveda, and movement/mobility).

My style of teaching is intentional and focuses on alignment while inviting you to listen to your mind, body and breath. Curiosity, non-judgement, and self-discovery are words you will hear me use in just about every class or private session. I hope that you always leave class or your session feeling as though you have learned something new and created some space.

  • anyone with chronic/persistent pain that hasn’t been relieved from “traditional” options,

  • anyone who is curious about breathing and how to incorporate breath exercises into their exercise/movement practice,

  • pregnant and postpartum people who have pain or need guidance on what exercise/movements are safe to do,

  • those with MS and other neurodegenerative diseases who are looking to stay active,

  • and those who are just looking for a different approach to exercise/movement.
